Below is an overview of the preliminary steps for filing a mechanic’s lien in the state of Wyoming.

COMMERCIAL:

  • Upfront Notice:
    • Preliminary Notice:
      • Required within 30 days of first providing service or materials to the project.
  • Follow-up Notice (if not paid):
    • Notice of Intent to File Lien:
      • Required at least 20 days before filing a lien statement. A lien must be filed within 120 days after last delivery, so BICA sets the deadline for the Intent to File Lien at 100 days of last delivery.
      • This notice is available on the BICA member portal.

RESIDENTIAL:

  • Same handlings as for Commercial jobs. jobs

PUBLIC:

  • Upfront Notice:
    • Notice to Contractor: (Notice of Claimants Right to Protection Under Payment Bond or Guarantee)
      • Required within 60 days of first delivery.
  • Follow-up Notice: There is no statutory follow-up notice.
